DURHAM, N.H. - Senior forward Jen Stamp (Tyngsboro, Mass.) of the University of New Hampshire field hockey team was named to the 2003 STX/NFHCA Division I All-America Second Team, the NFHCA announced Monday.
Since 1979, 20 UNH players have been named to the All-America Team a total of 27 times, including 12 selections to the First Team. This is the sixth consecutive year that a UNH player received All-America distinction.
Stamp, who was a repeat selection to both the Northeast Region First Team and America East All-Conference First Team in 2003, was the captain of the 2003 Wildcats and was a driving force behind the offense the past two seasons. She led this year's team in assists (nine) and was second in both goals (eight) and points (25); those numbers rank seventh in the America East conference in assists and 10th in both goals and points.
Stamp's season highlights included career highs of three goals and seven points vs UMBC as well as a career-high three assists vs. Syracuse. Stamp had a point in 10 of 21 games, including five of the final eight. Her 20 career assists ranks seventh on UNH's all-time list and 72 points is ninth.
UNH finished the 2003 season with a 5-1 America East conference record that earned the Wildcats the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament, and the 'Cats had a 10-11 overall record.
