BOSTON - Katie White (Glens Falls, N.Y.), a sophomore on the University of New Hampshire field hockey team, was named co-Player of the Week by America East on Monday.
White recorded 11 points with five goals and an assist to help keep UNH atop the America East standings with conference victories against Maine (3-2, overtime) and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (9-0).
White extended her goal-scoring streak to six games - the longest by a Wildcat since 2000, when America East Player of the Year Jessica Russell scored in eight straight games - with one tally and against Maine and a career-high four goals vs. UMBC. She also had an assist UMBC to finish with a career-best nine points, all of which came in the first half. White has 14 goals during this six-game stretch.
White leads the team with 20 goals, including four game-winners, and that mark is the second-highest single-season total in the program's 29-year history. Her 41 points is No. 3 on that list. She has scored a goal in 12 of 18 games this season.
The 2002 America East Rookie of the Year, White has 51 points (25 goals, 1 assist) in 38 career games.
The Wildcats (10-8 overall, 5-0 conference) return to action Oct. 29 against Boston College. Game time at UNH's Memorial Field is 3 p.m. New Hampshire concludes the regular season Nov. 1 (1 p.m.) at home against Northeastern in a battle for the top seed in - and the right to host - the America East Championships.
