ALBANY, N.Y. - Katie White (Glens Falls, N.Y.) and Jen Stamp (Tyngsboro, Mass.) scored first-half goals to propel the University of New Hampshire field hockey team to Saturday night's 2-1America East conference victory against the University at Albany.
UNH won its second consecutive game to improve to 6-8 overall and 2-0 in America East while Albany fell to 4-9, 0-2.
White scored her team-leading 10th goal of the season off a rebound to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead 3:38 into the game. Albany tied the game1, 1-1, in the 13th minute on an Alexis Johnson tally. The 'Cats regained the lead with 13:46 remaining in the first half on Stamp's third goal of the season. Jenn Harrison (Hanover, Mass.) earned an assist on the penalty-corner goal.
UNH goalkeeper Christine Buckley (Walpole, Mass.) finished the game with nine saves. UA counterpart Barbara Czaplinski stopped 16 shots as New Hampshire generated a 37-16 shot advantage, including 18-10 on goal.
New Hampshire returns to action at home Oct. 15 vs. the University of Massachusetts. Game time at Memorial Field is 7 p.m.
