New Hampshire field hockey shuts down Dartmouth, 4-0

HANOVER, N.H. - Sophomore forward Katie White (Glens Falls, N.Y.) scored a career-high three goals to propel the University of New Hampshire field hockey team to Wednesday evening's 4-0 victory against intrastate rival Dartmouth College.

UNH improved to 5-8 with the victory while Dartmouth remained winless through nine games at 0-9.

Freshman forward Catlin Gillen (New Preston, Conn.) gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead at 6:51, then White extended the advantage to 2-0 at 17:02. She scored her second unassisted tally of the game as time expired in the first half to produce a three-goal lead. With the assistance of Gillen, whose three points was also a career best, White closed out the scoring with a goal at 61:16.

Junior goalkeeper Christine Buckley (Walpole, Mass.) made three saves to record her first shutout of the season and fourth of her career. Dartmouth goalie Lauren Balukjian stopped four shots.

New Hampshire returns to action Oct. 11 (1 p.m.) at the University at Albany. The next Wildcat home game is Oct. 15 vs. the University of Massachusetts. Game time at Memorial Field is 7 p.m.
