New Hampshire field hockey adds Simeone

DURHAM, N.H. -- University of New Hampshire field hockey head coach Robin Balducci announced Wednesday that Stefanie Simeone (Stratham, N.H.) has enrolled at the University of New Hampshire for the Fall 2004 semester and will join the UNH field hockey team in August of this year.

Simeone is a three-sport athlete at Exeter Area High School, where she lettered in both basketball (2000-03) and lacrosse (2001-04) in addition to field hockey (2002-03). She has been a member of the U.S. Field Hockey program since 2001, including the USFH Region 1 National Team in 2003 and the Region 1 Futures Elite Team from 2002-04. Simeone, who will step into the Wildcats' backfield, also played on the Seacoast United Field Hockey Club Team for four years (2000-04).

"Stefanie Simeone is a great athlete who is very disciplined in her training, and with her work ethic she is a perfect fit for the UNH field hockey program," Balducci said.

Simeone joins fellow Granite State student-athlete Jen Mooney (Manchester), as well as Liz Edwards (Essex Fells, N.J.) and Nicole Lee (Trinidad and Tobago), in the Class of 2008.

UNH opens the 2004 season at home Sept. 2 vs. Michigan. Game time at Memorial Field is 2 p.m.
