DURHAM, N.H. - Freshman forward Marcie Boyer (Dillsburg, Pa.) of the University of New Hampshire field hockey team received AMERICA EAST Rookie of the Week honors Monday.
Againts Northeastern on Sunday, Boyer assisted on Kristin Iarusso's (Southwick, Mass.) game-winning goal with 2:58 left in the second half to lift the Wildcats over the Huskies 1-0. Boyer has started all ten games for UNH this season.
Head Coach Robin Balducci feels Boyer posesses good ball control and passing skills.
"I think she played a strong game as a freshman against Northeastern," Balducci said. "She created several scoring opportunities and her set-up allowed Kristin to score. She does not play like a freshman, she sees the field well and is a very smart player."
UNH travels to Dartmouth for a 3:30 p.m. game Wednesday. They will take on Old Dominion University Sunday, October 10 at 1 p.m. at the University of Connecticut.
