Decker's Three TD Passes Highlight Blue-White Football Game


DURHAM, N.H.Kevin Decker (Armonk, N.Y.) completed 18 of 20 passes for 272 yards and three touchdowns to guide Team Wild to a 44-20 triumph over Team Cats in the University of New Hampshire football team's Blue-White Game at Cowell Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Nico Steriti (Toms River, N.J.) rushed seven times for 49 yards and three touchdowns, and Chris Setian (East Longmeadow, Mass.) paced the running attack by barreling his way to 78 yards on eight carries.

Justin Mello (Dartmouth, Mass.) was the top receiving target, snaring five receptions for 83 yards and two touchdowns. Tim Farina (Campton, N.H.) also amassed five catches for 57 yards, while Chris Jeannot (Moon Township, Pa./four catches-46 yards) and Jimmy Giansante (Jefferson Hills, Pa./three catches-27 yards) each registered a touchdown catch.

Defensively, Akil Anderson (Morristown, N.J.) collected a team-high 10 tackles and chipped in with a pass break-up. Tre Williams (Syracuse, N.Y.) supplied eight tackles and a pass break-up, Chad Wilkes (Cheraw, S.C.) tallied seven stops and Tyrone Conley (Burlington, Vt.) notched five tackles, two tackles for loss, and a sack.

Decker orchestrated scoring drives on all five possessions in which he played, beginning with a 48-yard scoring strike to Mello just 41 seconds into the game. Following an extra point from Mike MacArthur (North Hampton, N.H.), it was a 7-0 lead for Wild.

After Christian Breda (Needham, Mass.) cut the Cats' deficit to 7-3 with a 35-yard field goal, A.J. DeLago (Menands, N.Y.) responded for Team Wild with a 37-yard kick to up the lead to 10-3.

Steriti rushed for a pair of first-quarter touchdowns, scoring on a seven-yard scamper and leapfrogging a defender for a three-yard score, bumping Team Wild's lead to 24-3 after one.

James Brady (Deer Park, N.Y.) solidified a hold on the backup quarterback position by going 17 of 24 for 191 yards and a 16-yard scoring strike to Mello.

Andy Vailas (Bedford, N.H.) was 11-for-15 for 54 yards, including a 10-yard TD pass to Giansante, and Sean Goldrich (West Haven, Conn.) completed six of nine passes for 84 yards.

The 10th-ranked Wildcats open the regular season at the University of Toledo next Thursday, Sept. 1, beginning at 7 p.m. (ESPN3).
