DURHAM, N.H. – Ricky Santos (Bellingham, Mass.), a senior quarterback for the University of New Hampshire football team, earned CAA Offensive Player of the Week honors Monday for his impressive performance Saturday in the Wildcats’ 39-14 win over the University of Maine.

Santos was one of two CAA Offensive Players of the Week awarded by the conference, as he helped guide the 20th-ranked Wildcats past the Black Bears to clinch a playoff berth. In the game, Santos connected on 25-of-32 passing attempts and compiled a total of 355 yards and four touchdowns against a tough Maine defense.

Santos has now won the weekly honor three times over the course of the season as he has passed for 2,721 yards, 22 touchdowns and rushed for 211 yards and nine touchdowns.

However, such success is nothing new to Santos as he has passed for 12, 961 yards in his Wildcat career. That total moves him past Willie Totten into third place on the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision’s all-time career passing yards list.

In addition, his four touchdown effort Saturday propelled him into third place on the NCAA FCS’ all-time career passing touchdowns list with 120 career touchdowns, a total that surpasses Steve McNair’s 119.

Santos and the Wildcats will return to action Saturday, Nov. 24 in the first-round of the NCAA Division I Football Championship as they take on No. 1-ranked University of Northern Iowa. Game time is set for 6:35 p.m. Central Time (7:35 Eastern Time) at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
