UNH FOOTBALL BOUNCES UP TO THIRD IN NCAA I-AA FOOTBALL POLL

PHILADELPHIA-- The University of New Hampshire football team moved up from No. 7 to No. 3 in the "Sports Network I-AA Football Poll" this week, despite the fact that the Wildcats did not play last weekend.

The third-place ranking is the highest UNH has ever been picked in "The Sports Network Poll", and it is also the highest since UNH was ranked fifth last season following the squad's 62-24 victory over Towson on Nov. 13. UNH completed the 2004 campaign as the No. 6 team in I-AA football. The reason for the jump in status was the fact that four of the top five teams and 11 of the top 25 ranked teams in the poll all lost this past weekend.

UNH's record is now 1-0 and the team will travel to Towson on Sept. 17 for the Wildcats' first Atlantic 10 Football Conference matchup of 2005. The game can be heard live on the Wildcat Sports Radio Network.
