UNH FOOTBALL EARNS ITS HIGHEST RANKING EVER IN THE SPORTS NETWORK I-AA FOOTBALL POLL

PHILADELPHIA-- The University of New Hampshire football team moved up two more spots to fifth this week following an explosive offensive performance in its 62-24 win over Towson on Nov. 13. The Wildcats were previously ranked as high as seventh in the poll following the off week on Oct. 10, and again following the victory over Rhode Island on Nov. 7.

UNH is now the top-ranked team in the Atlantic 10 Football Conference and the squad has already clinched first place in the Northern Division with a 5-2 league record and one game remaining at Maine on Nov. 20. In addition the Atlantic 10 Football Conference is the top-ranked league in the Jeff Sagarin ratings and the Wildcats are ranked No. 2 among I-AA football teams.

UNH is now 8-2 overall and could possibly finish 9-2 with a victory over the Black Bears in Orono on Saturday.

With a win, the 'Cats could also post their best record since the 1994 season. That year, the team finished with a 10-2 record and lost in the first round of the NCAA I-AA playoffs to Appalachian State.

The 2004 version of the Wildcats is the best road team in UNH history, as the squad has posted a 6-0 mark when playing out of a suitcase.
