UNH football ranked 21st in both I-AA polls

DURHAM, N.H.-The University of New Hampshire football team, which improved to 2-0 on Sept. 8 with a 26-19 victory over James Madison, was ranked 21st in the nation today in both the Sports Network and ESPN/USA Today Division I-AA football polls.

The Wildcats, one of seven teams from the Atlantic 10 in the top 25, also defeated a very talented perennial top 25 squad in Hampton University on Sept. 1. The Wildcats will be taking on 12th-ranked Hofstra this Saturday (Sept. 15) in Hempstead, N.Y., and a victory over the Pride would probably mean an even higher ranking next week for UNH. Other teams from the Atlantic 10 Football conference that are ranked this week include: Rhode Island (13), Richmond (14), Villanova (17), William & Mary (19), and Delaware (24).

The last time the Wildcats were ranked in the top 25 was during the 2000 season, after UNH opened the slate with a 4-0 mark and was ranked as high as 23rd in the nation.
