DURHAM, N.H. -- The University of New Hampshire football program released its schedule for the 2002 season and it features games vs. many of the top teams in Division I-AA football and even a I-A contest at Kent State for the season-opener on Aug. 29.

The season begins with a pair of away games. In addition to the contest vs. the Golden Flash, the team will also travel to Atlantic 10 rival James Madison on Sept. 7.

The team's home-opener will feature Hofstra, a team that immediately finished among the top teams in the Atlantic 10 and should continue to be a top 25 squad once again. The game vs. The Pride, and all other home contests, will be played at noon in Cowell Stadium.

On Sept. 21 and 28 its back to the road for the Wildcats, who will play Villanova and Granite State rival Dartmouth, respectively. Following an open date, UNH will play its Homecoming game on Oct. 12 vs. Atlantic 10 defensive powerhouse, Richmond. Parent's Weekend at UNH features one of the Atlantic 10's preseason favorites in William and Mary (Oct. 19).

The 'Cats could be playing in front of 20,000 plus fans when it travels to play Delaware on Oct. 26.

The squad finishes up with three key games vs. traditional Northeast rivals. On Nov. 9, UNH will entertain Massachusetts. On Nov. 16, it will be the 'Cats vs. the Dogs when Northeastern comes to Durham. And the season finale features the Wildcats vs. the Black Bears of Maine up in Orono on Nov. 23.
