DURHAM, N.H.-- The University of New Hampshire football team will be back on campus on Saturday, August 14th, for the annual Wildcat Football Media/Photo Day. The event, which kicks off every season, will begin at 1 p.m. on Mooradian Field at Cowell Stadium.

The day will provide the local media with an opportunity to interview first-year head coach Sean McDonnell as he heads into his initial preseason camp. In addition, all of the players on the 1999-00 roster will be dressed in full uniform and available for both still and video headshots. Key returnees this season include: Senior co-captain and fullback Dan Kreider (Mount Joy, Pa.), senior co-captain and defensive back Mike Szweda (Shaker Heights, Ohio), senior tailback Dan Curran (Chelmsford, Mass.), senior receiver Jermaine Washington (West Milford, N.J.), senior strong safety Wade Rowcliffe (Caledonia, N.Y.) and junior quarterback Mike Apple (Bath, N.Y.).

Some of the interesting stories surrounding this year's team include: "Life without Jerry Azumah and 27-year head coach Bill Bowes; The quarterback situation and Matt Cassano not playing due to injury; Defensive Coordinator Mark Matlak being named Associate Head Football Coach; The hiring of offensive line coach Darryl Bullock; The new television deal with WMUR-TV and four home games being carried live; The new University of New Hampshire Sports Network, which will originate from WTSN (1270 AM) in Dover; and The Atlantic 10 no longer being split into two divisions."

University photographers will be taking a team photo, head shots, position-by-position photos and state-by-state photos.

The team will start two-a-day practices on Sunday August 15th and will play its annual Blue/White Fall Scrimmage on August 26th at Cowell Stadium.

The football season opens on Saturday, Sept. 4 and the first home game for the Wildcats will take place on Saturday, Sept. 18 vs. James Madison University.
