Olympics: Tim Baucom

1. What is your daily schedule like nowadays leading up to the Olympics?
I am not a full time employee of the US Ski Team so I am coaching part time with them, as well as working at my summer job as a carpenter.
2. Where are you currently training?
Bozeman, Montana
3. What event will you be competing in if you make it to the Olympics?
N/A- working for the athletes at all of the events
4. How has UNH prepared you for this high-level competition?
Competing at UNH was the stepping for for my entry into coaching and working as a technician. Working with UNH coaches at staff as an athlete gave me a great appreciation of the work it takes- not only from the athletes, but from the "team behind the team"- to compete at the highest level of sport.
5. When is the final selections for your national team being made?
January, 2018
6. What does it mean to represent your country and the University of New Hampshire at the Olympics?
I am honored to be working toward a collective goal of US success at the Olympics. I am proud of my country and proud to be representing UNH. It is amazing to take all of the skills and passion that I developed as an athlete at UNH and translate it into a career in the sport I love.
7. Why did you choose UNH as the college to continue your studies and compete?
The UNH community, coaches and staff I worked with, and academic possibilities are unparalleled in my opinion.
8. What do you miss most about UNH?
I miss the engaging academics, the amazing team dynamics of the ski team, and the New England seacoast the most.
9. What are your goals at the Olympics?
Our team goal is take home an Olympic Cross Country Skiing medal for the first time in over 40 years.
