DURHAM, N.H. – Nick Marino (Hudson, N.H.) and Kyle Reisert (Plymouth, N.H.) of the University of New Hampshire football team were each named to the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team, which honors top student-athletes for their combined athletic and academic performances.
Marino earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from UNH in December 2016. Marino, a UNH Honors Program Presidential Scholar honoree last spring, graduated summa cum laude with a 3.86 GPA and now boasts a 4.00 GPA in his second semester as a graduate student studying for a master's degree in mechanical engineering with a concentration in fluid dynamics. The safety has played in 10 games this season with six tackles and an interception, which he returned for 33 yards in a win against Bryant on Sept. 30. Marino, a three-time member of the CAA Academic All-Conference Team and CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll, was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honors Society, and he is co-president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Reisert, who has senior academic standing and junior eligibility, earns CoSIDA All-District for the second year in a row. The mechanical engineering major with a cumulative 4.00 GPA is a three-time member of the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll and a two-time CAA Academic All-Conference honoree who was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma in 2016. In six games this season, the defensive end tallied 10 tackles (five solo) and two pass breakups before a leg injury ended his season last Saturday.
Marino and Reisert represent NCAA Division I - District I, which covers the New England states and New York.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where First-, Second- and Third-Team All-America honorees will be announced in December. For more information, visit www.cosida.com.
No. 16 UNH (7-3, 5-2 CAA) visits the University at Albany (3-7, 1-6) in the final game of the regular season Saturday, Nov. 18, at 1 p.m. The game will be streamed live on College Sports Live (www.collegesportslive.com) and can be heard on the Wildcat Sports Radio Network. With a victory, the Wildcats will be in a good position to secure an at-large berth to the NCAA Division I FCS Championship playoffs for a nation-leading 14th consecutive season.
