'Cats Drop Senior Day Match to UAlbany, 3-0

DURHAM, N.H. – Hannah Petke (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) recorded a match-high 11 kills on a .318 hitting percentage, but the University of New Hampshire volleyball team was defeated 3-0 by the University at Albany on Sunday at Lundholm Gym.
The set scores were 25-16, 25-18, 25-23.
Gabri Olhava (Mount Prospect, Ill.) finished with 10 kills, a .444 hitting percentage and two service aces. Emma Patlovich (Lake Bluff, Ill.) had a team-high 18 assists and Jenny Weston (Canton, Mass.) led the Wildcats in digs with 10.
UNH is now 10-13 overall and 5-4 in America East. UAlbany strengthened its position atop the conference standings by improving to 8-13, 8-1.
The Wildcats honored its two seniors -- Courtney Bowman (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) and Katie Rebrovich (Burleson, Texas) -- prior to the match, the last of the regular season at Lundholm Gym.

THE DIFFERENCE
- With the score tied 18-18 in the second set, UAlbany reeled off seven consecutive points to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
- UNH had a 38-37 edge in kills, but the Wildcats also had more attack errors, 23-13, as the Great Danes recorded 11 team blocks.
SET 1
- There was just one tie and one lead change, and that happened in the first three points of the match.
- New Hampshire won the opening point on a kill by Courtney Bowman (Chagrin Falls, Ohio), but UAlbany won four consecutive points to take a lead it would not relinquish.
- The visitors built a 12-5 lead. UNH responded with a 3-0 run, but that was matched by the Great Danes to push the score to 15-8.
- The margin was as high as nine points, 20-11, before the Wildcats closed the gap to 21-16 with a 5-1 run.
- UAlbany then closed out the first set on a 4-0 spurt.
SET 2
- There were 12 tie scores and four lead changes in a set that was tightly contested until the Great Danes' closing seven-point run.
- UAlbany took a 5-1 lead but that was countered with a 5-1 run by the 'Cats to level the score at 6.
- Trailing 8-7, UNH won four consecutive points behind Olhava, who tallied a kill and two aces during the run.
- UAlbany immediately answered with a 3-0 run to tie the score at 11.
- Neither team led by more than one point until the visitors' set-ending run.
- Danielle Tedesco began and ended the 7-0 run with kills.
SET 3
- UNH recorded its best hitting percentage of the match at .275, but it wasn't enough in a set that saw four ties and one lead change.
- The ties were at 1,2,3, and 4, and the lead change occurred when UAlbany won four consecutive points to take an 8-4 lead.
- The Wildcats closed within 8-7, but the Great Danes extended the advantage to 12-7.
- Trailing 14-9, UNH battled back within14-12 on a kill by Bowman and back-to-back blocks by Kennedi Smith (The Woodlands, Texas), who finished the match with nine kills and nine digs.
- The 'Cats trimmed the deficit to the narrowest of margins – one point – three times before UAlbany went on a 3-0 run to take a 20-16 lead.
- A kill and block by Olhava sparked a 3-0 spurt that once again pulled UNH within one point, 22-21.
- The teams exchanged points to advance the score to 24-23 and Chloe Evering ended the set and match with a kill.
