The 500-plus blue, wide, padded Service Credit Union Victory Club seats with cup holders – have you reserved yours yet? – are in place and ready for September football.
Monday, a crew began installing the speakers that will be placed on top of the Field House's indoor track as part of the new stadium's sound system.
Foundation work began last week on the ticket plaza/entrance pavilion at the scoreboard end of Wildcat Stadium. That work was delayed a bit for good reason: designers were sent back to the drawing board to incorporate a 30 by 50-foot video board that was a late addition to the facility and will be a showcase item in it.
"It's coming along pretty quickly," said Eric Price, who oversees the project for stadium contractor PC Construction. "By the end of July we'll be substantially complete and at that point the owner will start to do its fit up, bring in its furniture and equipment and start to set it up."
All systems are go for Wildcat Stadium, which will be christened as the new home of the UNH football team with a game against Holy Cross on Saturday, Sept. 10, less than four months away.
The Wildcats open the 2016 season with a game at San Diego State, an FBS school, on September 3.
Season tickets for Wildcat Stadium, which will feature the Victory Club that provides an enhanced fan experience unlike any in the region, are now on sale. Information on tickets and the stadium is available online or by calling 603-862-4000.
The opener against Holy Cross is the first of five regular season home games. Another featured game is Homecoming against William & Mary on Oct. 1.
Price estimates that some 75 workers a day are on site. Last week, some painted while others did masonry, installed stands, dropped a ceiling or poured concrete as part of the foundation for the video board and ticket plaza.
"It all depends on the day," Price said. "When one trade drops off, another picks up a little."
Shiny grilles, freezers, coolers, shelves and dishwashing equipment hold down their spots in the kitchen area off the main concourse.
Floor and wall tile work has been wrapped up in some kitchen and bathroom areas.
"Mechanical and electrical systems will come on line in the next few weeks," Price said.
The first carpet is scheduled to be installed in early June on the fourth floor that houses the press box, coaches' boxes and home and visiting radio booths, among other space.
"We'll start with the carpet there and work our way down the building and painters will come in after that," Price said.
Structural steel for the video board is due in to arrive the second week of June and work on the video board itself is scheduled to follow soon after.
The pedestrian bridge to the concourse, which will be used by a majority of fans to access the stadium, is about ready but for handrails.
The UNH football team has been one of the most successful FCS programs in the country for more than a decade under head coach Sean McDonnell. The Wildcats have qualified for the FCS tournament each of the last 12 seasons, which is easily the longest such streak in the nation.
