Gymnastics Earns Bid to NCAA Ann Arbor Regional (April 2, 6 p.m.)

Wildcats to challenge Auburn, Michigan, Stanford, E. Michigan, Penn State
INDIANAPOLIS – The University of New Hampshire gymnastics team has been selected to compete in the 2016 National Collegiate Women's Gymnastics Championships Ann Arbor Regional, which will be hosted by the University of Michigan on Saturday, April 2, at 6 p.m.

The Wildcats (16-10) locked up their 33rd NCAA Regional bid in the last 35 years --and 35th postseason appearance in the 37-year career of head coach Gail Goodspeed-- by finishing in second place (195.525) at the EAGL Championship on Saturday, March 19, at the University of Pittsburgh's Fitzgerald Field House.
UNH, which is ranked 33rd nationally (195.485 Regional Qualifying Score), made it to the 36-team field as the No. 6 seed in the Ann Arbor Regional at the University of Michigan's Crisler Arena. The Wildcats will take on sixth-ranked Auburn University (No. 1 seed), seventh-ranked Michigan (No. 2 seed), 18th-ranked Stanford University (No. 3 seed), 24th-ranked Eastern Michigan University (No. 4 seed) and 25th-ranked Penn State University (No. 5 seed).

The top two teams and the top two all-around competitors (who are not on an advancing team) from the Ann Arbor Regional will receive an automatic berth to the NCAA national championships (April 15-16) in Fort Worth, Texas. In addition, the event winners will advance to the national championships (in that event only) if they are not part of a qualifying team or an all-around qualifier.
