The UNH football team will pay a visit to an old haunt in the 2017 season.
Athletics department officials this week finalized a deal to have the Wildcats play their FBS game at Georgia Southern University on Sept. 9, 2017, the second week of that season.
The Georgia Southern game completes UNH's nonconference portion of the schedule for 2017. The Wildcats will also play at Holy Cross on Sept. 16, 2017 and play a home game against Bryant on Sept. 30 of that season.
The Colonial Athletic Association part of the schedule will be announced at a later date.
The announcement of the Georgia Southern game comes as work continues on Wildcat Stadium, the new home of the football team that is rising on the site of Cowell Stadium.
UNH will christen Wildcat Stadium on Sept. 10 this coming fall with a home game against Holy Cross.
Current season ticket holders are in the process of selecting their ticket packages in the stadium, including for the Service Credit Union Victory Club which offers a complete and enhanced fan experience unlike any previously available for UNH football.

UNH and Georgia Southern have met once before.
Coach Sean McDonnell's team traveled to Statesboro, Ga., for the first round of the 2004 FCS playoffs and knocked off the Eagles, 27-23.
That game began a magical run in the FCS tournament for the Wildcats, who have qualified for the event each of the last 12 years, which is the best streak in the nation.
Georgia Southern has since moved up to the FBS level and now competes in the Sun Belt Conference.
UNH has scheduled a "guarantee" game – for which it receives a financial payment - at an FBS school each season for the last decade-plus to help sustain its athletics budget.
The Wildcats start the 2016 season with an FBS game at San Diego State on Sept. 3.
They return to open their new stadium against Holy Cross the next Saturday, Sept. 10.
Other home games during the regular season are Oct. 1 against William & Mary (Homecoming), Oct. 15 against James Madison (Family Weekend), Oct. 29 against Stony Brook and Nov. 12 against Albany.
The rest of the 2016 schedule has UNH at Dartmouth on Oct. 17, at Rhode Island on Sept. 24, at Elon on Oct. 8, at Towson on Oct. 22 and at Maine on Nov. 19.
The Wildcats begin their spring football sessions on April 5.
Spring football concludes with the annual Blue-White spring game on May 7.
