DURHAM, N.H. – Senior Caroline Murray (New Canaan, Conn.) and sophomore Brooke Murphy (Monson, Mass.) were selected to the 2015 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association Division I All-New England First Team, announced by the association on Friday.
Murray is awarded first team selection after a stellar season with the Wildcats. The Connecticut native was named America East Midfielder of the Year and she led the league in assists with eight. She was an All-Conference First Team Selection as well as an All-Academic Team honoree. Murray also notched 10 points this season on one goal and eight assists. After the season, Murray was named to the NSCAA All-Region Third Team. The senior was also selected for the 2015 NEWISA Senior Bowl, which features seniors from schools throughout New England representing all three NCAA Divisions.
Murphy concluded her second season as a Wildcat with America East Striker of the Year honors after leading the league with 11 goals and 27 points. Her play secured All-Conference First Team honors as well as National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Region Second Team recognition. Murphy was named America East Player of the Week three times this season and secured the TD Bank Classic Most Valuable Player after posting two goals and an assist in the three-game tournament. The Wildcats were one win shy of the regular season championship.
The Wildcats finished the season 6-9-4 overall and 4-4 in conference play after winning the program's first America East championship during the 2014 season. The Wildcats defense of the title was undone after an America East Championship Quarterfinal loss to the University of Maine, 1-1, in penalty kicks. UNH statistically dominated the game with a 22-10 shot advantage as well as a 7-2-corner kick advantage. In the overtime periods, the Wildcats outshot the Black Bears 4-1.
