And then there were two.
Â
The UNH football team will close the curtain on Cowell Stadium in short order.
Â
The Wildcats have three games remaining in the 2015 regular season and two of them are in their old facility.
The first is against No. 5/7 Richmond, which is 7-1 overall and 5-0 in the Colonial Athletic Association, on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Â
UNH is 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the CAA and needs to win its last three games to have any shot at qualifying for the FCS tournament for the 12th straight year.
Â
The game is being celebrated as a Salute To Service Day and will be televised nationally on the NBC Sports Network and a live stream is available at http://nbcsnstream2.nbcsports.com.
Â
UNH plays at Albany on Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. and then finishes the regular season with Senior Day on Nov. 21 against Maine at 1 p.m.
Â
A limited number of tickets are available for the home games against Richmond and Maine and may be purchased by CLICKING HERE or by calling 603-862-4000, extension 5.
Â
Barring home playoff games, the next collegiate football contest on the field after the Maine game will be on Sept. 10, 2016 against Holy Cross in the new Wildcat stadium that is currently under construction.
Â
Coach Sean McDonnell's team and its fans will switch to the other side of the field at that point.
Â
Wide receiver Mike Kelly and his fellow seniors won't get a chance to play in the new stadium.
Â
But they've been keeping an eye on its progress.
Â
"It looks unreal," Kelly said. "We started watching it when they first started doing it. I was up here all summer, too. At first it was, it's going kind of slow, it's going kind of slow. But now to see it actually getting up there . . . It's going to be awesome."
Â
A "topping out" ceremony was held last week to celebrate the final steel beam being placed in the stadium's gable roof.
Â
This week, work continued on closing in parts of the stadium for winter and other projects.
Â
The athletics department has launched a marketing campaign that allows fans to acquire priority position to purchase season tickets for 2016 in the new stadium. Current season ticket holders are already on the priority list and do not need to sign up again.
Â
A fully refundable deposit of $25 reserves a spot on the list that will establish priority position for tickets. A seat selection date will be announced at a later time. Fans may get on the list by CLICKING HERE.
Â
Reservation Stations will also be set up at the games against Richmond and Maine. Fans can pay their deposit and sign up there as well and Reservation Stations will be set up at UNH hockey and basketball games, too.
Â
Interior framing on the stadium is just about complete, said Eric Price, superintendent for contractor PC Construction, on Thursday.
Â
"We're getting it closed in a little more and ready for temporary heat for the winter," he said.
Â
The steel for the pedestrian bridge to the main concourse is due on site Monday and the bridge will be constructed at that point.
Â
"I don't expect that will take much more than a week," Price said.
Â
DensGlass, which is yellow exterior sheathing, is being put in place as well.
Â
Work also continues on drainage in the scoreboard end of the stadium and on the access road behind the stadium.
