BOSTON – Sophomore Brooke Murphy (Monson, Mass.) of the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team has been named Co-Player of the Week by the America East conference, following a goal and an assist this past weekend.
Monday's announcement follows a weekend where the 'Cats defeated the University of Vermont, 3-2, on Oct. 1 and toppled the University at Albany, 1-0, on Oct. 4 to remain unbeaten in conference play.
Before this week's award, Murphy had earned two Player of the Week honors form the conference this season.
Against Vermont, Murphy recorded an assist on the game-winning goal scored by junior Caitlin Bucksbaum (Mendon, Vt.). The assist marks the third for Murphy this season and fourth of her career.
Murphy then scored the lone goal against UAlbany at Bremner Field in the 11th minute. The forward leads the team with seven goals this season and 18 in her career. She ranks ninth in program history with her career goals total.
The Wildcats stand at 5-5-3 overall and have momentum heading into the second half of conference play.
The team looks for its fourth straight win against the University of Massachusetts Lowell on Thursday, Oct. 8 (7 p.m.) in Cowell Stadium for the team's Think Pink game.
