Women’s Cross Country Takes Seventh at Boston College Invitational


BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Laura Rose Donegan (Melbourne, Australia) finished 13th as freshman Elinor Purrier (Montgomery, Vt.) finished 14th to help the University of New Hampshire women's cross country team finish seventh at the Boston College Invitational Friday afternoon. 

The Wildcats, who competed against teams such as the nation's top-ranked Providence College Friars and the third-ranked Oregon Ducks at the event, finished seventh of 14 with 164 points. Donegan finished 13th of 146 runners with a time of 17:34 while Purrier was hot on her heels with a time of 17:35.

Senior co-captain Anne Twombly (Exeter, N.H.) finished 19th with a result of 17:42. Classmate and fellow co-captain Elise Beattie (Woodstock, Ill.) crossed the finish line in 64th with a time of 18:36. Sophomore Samantha Blais (Lyndenborough, N.H.) and senior Cayla Pellegrini (Derry, N.H.) had a tandem finish of 76th and 77th as they each finished with a time of 18:51. Senior Megan Boucher (Manchester, N.H.) rounded out the Wildcat runners as she finished 85th with a time of 19:01.

The Wildcats return to the course Saturday, Oct. 5 when they travel to Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa. for the Paul Short Invitational. The race kicks off at 10 a.m.
