Women’s Soccer Opens up Conference Slate against Binghamton Sunday, Sept. 29 (1 p.m.)


DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team will open up the America East Conference portion of the schedule on Sunday, Sept. 29 as the team hosts Binghamton. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Links to live stats and video will be available on www.UNHWildcats.com.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE 'CATS: New Hampshire (2-5-2) and Holy Cross battled to a scoreless draw Wednesday, Sept. 25 on the road. Sophomore Kirsten O'Neil (Hampton, N.H.) led the charge on offense with four shots, two of which were on net. Senior Colleen Murray (Bedford, N.H.) and sophomore Gabrielle Sloan (Stow, Mass.) each notched three shots. 

Freshman goalie Mimi Borkan (Medfield, Mass.) earned her first collegiate shutout as she made six saves to keep the match scoreless. Holy Cross edged the Wildcats in shots by a margin of 19-17. 

SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE: Kirsten O'Neil leads the Wildcats in points with three. She has one goal and one assist and also has 20 shots. Juniors Jordan Logue (Walpole, Mass.) and Jenna Shaddock (Halifax, Nova Scotia) and Sloan each have a pair of points on a goal. Sophomore Kennedy Nickerson (Niantic, Conn.) also has a pair of points on two assists. Senior Kelsi O'Neil (Hampton, N.H.) rounds out the points with an assist.

Borkan has started four of the six games she has played. She comes in with a record of 1-2-1 with a shutout, a goals against average of 1.02 and a save percentage of .853. Senior Erica Correa (Cheshire, Conn.) has started all five games she has played and has a record of 1-3-1 with a shutout, a goals against average of 1.77 and a save percentage of .714.

LAST TIME OUT FOR BINGHAMTON: The Bearcats earned a 1-0 win over Army Monday, Sept. 23 on the road. Michele Galvin gave Binghamton a 1-0 lead in the 80th minute of play on a header in the box. Allison Mack earned the assist on the play. Goalkeepers Carrie Martin, Stephanie Speirs and Gaby Gold each saw time in the match. Martin made one save as Gold made three.

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS: Stephani Church leads Binghamton on offense with seven points. She has three goals and one assist. Rebecca Raber has five points from one goal and three assists while Galvin has four points on a pair of goals.

Martin has seen the most action in net for BU as she has started seven of the nine games she has played. She holds a 4-2-0 record with three shutouts, a 0.87 goals against average and a .824 save percentage. Gold has played in four games and holds a 1-1-0 record. She has a 0.94 goals against average and a .867 save percentage. 

UP NEXT FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE: The 'Cats stay at home for the next contest as they host Albany Thursday, Oct. 3 at Cowell Stadium for an afternoon tilt. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
