CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Laura McHoul (Westwood, Mass.), a freshman attack on the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team, was named America East Rookie of the Week on Monday.
McHoul recorded five points, all on assists, in her collegiate debut at Hofstra University on Feb. 16; she was also credited with one ground ball and two draw controls in the 13-12 loss.
She set up the team's second, third and fourth goals to propel UNH to a 4-0 lead. McHoul then assisted on the Wildcats' sixth goal to enter halftime with four helpers. She also set up the goal that gave New Hampshire a 10-8 advantage midway through the second half.
McHoul leads the team in assists and is tied atop the leaderboard in points with five.
New Hampshire (0-1 overall, 0-0 America East) returns to action Feb. 23 for its home opener against the University of Massachusetts. Game time at Memorial Field is 1 p.m.
