DURHAM, N.H. – Seniors Daniel DeCrescenzo (New Milford, Conn.) and Cory Sinotte (Manchester, N.H.) each turned-in top-five finishes to lead the University of New Hampshire men's cross country team to a second place finish at the America East Pre-Conference meet Friday afternoon at the College Woods course.
The Wildcats finished with 50 points to finish behind Boston University (35) but ahead of Albany (80), Maine (83) and Vermont (103). The meet served as a prelude to next month's conference championships, which will also be held at the College Woods course.
DeCrescenzo, who finished 12th overall at last year's conference championships, took second as he completed the 8-kilometer course in a time of 26:11.37. Sinotte was not far behind as he finished third in a time of 26:14.16. Sinotte was the team's top finisher at last year's NCAA Northeast Regional meet and opened the 2012 season with a fourth-place finish in a dual-meet against Providence.
Junior Joseph Jourdain (Hudson, N.H.) also recorded a top-10 finish as he placed eighth overall in a time of 26:49.66.
Junior Kevin Greene (Silver Spring, Md.) and sophomore Sam Gagnon (Hooksett, N.H.) placed 18th and 19th, respectively, in times of 27:24.69 and 27:28.92. Sophomore Jeff Moretti (Guilford, Conn.) and freshman Luke Miller (Birdsboro, Pa.) took 21st and 23rd, respectively, at 27:34.15 and 27:37.87.
The Wildcats return to action on Friday, Sept. 21 when they visit Maine at 3 p.m.
