Prizzi and Moretti Sweep the Mile Race as Men’s Track Participates in the Joe Donahue Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. - Juniors John Prizzi (Wyckoff, N.J.) and Jeffrey Moretti (Guilford, Conn.) swept the one-mile race as the Wildcats competed at the Joe Donahue Invitational Friday evening at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.

Prizzi took first place in the mile with a time of 4-minutes and 13.89-seconds to lead UNH in the non-scoring meet. Moretti claimed the second spot in the race for the Wildcats, timinig-in at 4:14.74.

Junior Isaiah Penn (Boston, Mass.) also recorded a second-place finish and John Cox (Rome, Ga.) took fifth in the 400-meter race for the Wildcats. Penn crossed the line in 49.74 seconds for second place, while Cox finished in 49.99 seconds for fifth.

Sophomore D'mahl McFadden (Penacook, N.H.) and Dylan Pelletier (Orford, N.H.) placed for UNH in a couple sprinting events during the meet. McFadden opened with fourth in the 60-meter hurdles, posting a time of 8.39 seconds, while Pelletier earned eighth in the 60-meter dash, clocking-in at 7.32 seconds.

Freshman Seth Sheridan (Ashburnham, Mass.) and Nathaniel Hathaway (Scarborough, Maine) closed out the track events for UNH. Sheridan took eighth in the 200-meter dash (22.93 seconds) and Hathaway finished seventh in the 3000-meter race (8:33.64)

Two UNH relay teams posted good times at the meet, with the distance medley relay team taking first (10:21.00) and the 4x400 relay team claiming third (3:23.39).

Three student-athletes also earned top spots in throwing events for the Wildcats. Senior George Jumpp (Manchester, N.H.) earned second place in the weight throw with a measurement of 16.71 meters. Freshman Michael Shanahan (Dover, N.H.) also placed in the weight throw, taking sixth with a long toss of 15.15 meters. Jake Renaud (Lancaster, N.H.) earned the final spot for the Wildcats on the day. The senior finished in eighth place in the shot put with a mark of 13.53m.

The UNH men's track and field team returns to action Saturday, February 1st when it competes at the Rhode Island Invitational at Mackal Fieldhouse in Kingston, R.I.
