KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Three members of the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team were honored as they received nods to the NSCAA All-Northeast Region Teams as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Steven Palumbo (Kingston, N.H.) and Ugochukwu Uche (Ann Arbor, Mich.) took home second team honors while Lukas Goerigk (Berlin, Germany) was tabbed to the third team.
Palumbo and Uche played key roles on offense in the 2013 season. Palumbo registered six points on a goal and four assists while Uche led the offense with 13 points stemming from six goals and an assist. Palumbo's goal proved to be the game winner against Stony Brook (Oct. 12) in a 2-1 victory over the conference foe.
Four of Uche's six goals were game winners. His first goal came in the 109th minute of play against Evansville (Sept. 1). His two-goal performance against Vermont (Nov. 6) ultimately gave UNH a bye into the semifinal round of the America East Championship and earned them home-field advantage.
Goerigk recorded his first-career points in 2013 as he notched a pair of goals for four points. The back/midfielder scored the game-winning goal against Colgate (Sept. 8) in a 1-0 victory and struck again in a 2-0 victory over Binghamton on a penalty kick.
The trio of players were also named to the America East All-Conference First Team back in November.
