CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Freshman goalkeeper Giovani Riello (Sao Paulo, Brazil) of the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team was named the America East Rookie of the Week, announced Monday by the conference.
The rookie earned a record of 2-0-0 on the week with wins over intrastate rival Dartmouth College, and against conference foe Binghamton University. On the road against the Big Green, Riello made four saves on five shots to help the Wildcats to a 2-1 win in double-overtime. At home against the Bearcats, the goalkeeper made a trio of saves to earn his third shutout of the season. His record currently stands at 4-2-0 with a goals against average of 0.65 and a save percentage of .810.
The Wildcats are back in action Wednesday, Nov. 6 as they host the University of Vermont in the regular season finale. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
