CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Steven Palumbo (Kingston, N.H.), a freshman midfielder on the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team, was honored as the America East Co-Rookie of the Week by the conference Monday afternoon for the second consecutive week.

Palumbo earns the honor after scoring his second consecutive game-winning goal in extended play, finding the back of the net just over a minute into overtime to lift the 'Cats to a 1-0 victory against the University at Albany on Wednesday afternoon. For UNH, the win clinched a playoff berth in the America East Tournament for the fifth straight year.

Palumbo's tally came just at the start of overtime, as Charlie Roche (Haverhill, Mass.) centered a ball to Palumbo from about 40 yards out and he took it the rest of the way chipping in a shot from the top of the box into the right side of the net at 91:19.

For Palumbo, the goal is his third game-winner this year, as he also notched winners against Central Connecticut State (Sept. 6) and Boston University (Oct. 23). He is tied for the team-lead in points with eight, on three goals and two assists.

Palumbo and the Wildcats return to action to wrap up their regular season Tuesday, November 2, when they take on Dartmouth College at 6 p.m. at Burnham Field.
