Alpine Skier Coley Oliver Selected to U.S. Team for World University Games
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Coley Oliver (Salt Lake City, Utah), a junior alpine skier for the University of New Hampshire skiing team, was recently selected by USA Alpine Skiing to compete for the U.S. Men's National University Team at the 2013 Winter World University Games from Dec. 11-21 in Trentino, Italy.
Oliver, who is one of six members of the U.S. National University Team, is scheduled to compete in the slalom, giant slalom and Super G events in the Val di Fassa.
Oliver earned All-America First Team for the Wildcats in giant slalom at the 2013 NCAA Skiing Championships, hosted by Middlebury College last March. The two-time NCAA qualifier tied for second place in GS and ignited a team fourth-place finish in that event. The All-East Second Team honoree notched the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association's No. 6 ranking after recording five top-10 results, including three top-5 finishes in slalom. He registered a career-best second-place SL finish at the Middlebury Carnival (Feb. 15).
Oliver, a two-time member of the National Ski Coaches Association All-Academic Team, will be joined on the U.S. men's squad by Cameron Smith and Fletcher McDonald of the University of Colorado, Grant Jampolsky and Kitt Flowers of the University of Denver, and Hig Roberts of Middlebury College.
