COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of New Hampshire men's hockey team debuted in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Preseason Men's College Hockey Poll as the 13th-ranked team in the nation. The Wildcats garnered 116 points, just six points behind 12th-ranked Union College.
The Wildcats finished the 2012-13 season ranked 11th in the nation following a trip to the NCAA Northeast Regional final. Hockey East rival UMass Lowell is the nation's top-ranked team, garnering 20 of 34 first-place votes.
UNH opens the 2013-14 season Oct. 5 (7 p.m.) in an exhibition game against Acadia University. The Wildcats open the season at the Ice Breaker Tournament in Minneapolis, Minn.
