DURHAM, N.H. — Ed Caron (Hudson, N.H.) and Justin Aikins (Surrey, B.C.), two incoming student-athletes for the University of New Hampshire men's ice hockey team, were selected in the NHL Draft this past weekend.




MANCHESTER, N.H. - University of New Hampshire Athletic Director Marty Scarano announced today that the University of New Hampshire men's ice hockey team will play a home game at the Manchester Civic Center against intrastate rival Dartmouth College on Thursday, December 13th at 7 p.m.




DURHAM, N.H. — Head Coach Richard Umile of the University of New Hampshire men's ice hockey program has announced the signing of six student-athletes for the 2001-2002 season. DURHAM, N.H. - University of New Hampshire junior forward Darren Haydar (Milton, Ont.) has been named captain of the 2001-2002 UNH men's ice hockey team and was named the Ted Karmeris Most Exciting Player. Along with Haydar, sophomore defenseman Garrett Stafford (Los Angeles, Calif.) and sophomore forward Patrick Foley (Milton, Mass.) were named assistant captains at the UNH Hockey Banquet on Saturday afternoon at the Whittemore Center Arena.




The Edmonton Oilers have announced that goaltender Ty Conklin from the University of New Hampshire Wildcats has agreed to a three-year contract with the team.




DURHAM, N.H. - Senior goaltender Ty Conklin (Anchorage, Alaska) of the University of New Hampshire men's ice hockey team was named to the 2001 Division I men's ice hockey JOFA All-America First Team by the American Hockey Coaches Association on Wednesday afternoon. The announcement was made at the site of the Frozen Four in Albany, N.Y.




DURHAM, N.H. - Senior goaltender Ty Conklin (Anchorage, Alaska) of the University of New Hampshire men's ice hockey team was named to the 2001 New England Hockey All-Star Team selected by the New England Hockey Writers Association. Conklin also earned New England All-Star honors as a rookie in the 1998-99 season.




DURHAM, N.H. - Senior goaltender Ty Conklin (Anchorage, Alaska) of University of New Hampshire menís ice hockey team has been named a Hobey Baker Finalist for the second straight season by the Hobey Baker selection committee. Conklin was named to the Hockey East first-team, earned Hockey East goaltending champion honors with a 1.83 GAA and was runner-up for Hockey East Player of the Year at the conference banquet on Thursday night at the Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge, Mass.

(March 14, 2001)...Ned Cully, president of the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston, announced today that Boston College senior Brian Gionta and University of New Hampshire senior Ty Conklin have been named co-winners of the 49th Walter Brown Award, given annually to New England's outstanding American-born college hockey player.

DURHAM, N.H — Tyler Scott (Rockville, Md.), a freshman defenseman on the University of New Hampshire men's ice hockey team, will be withdrawing from the University and will be reporting to the Sioux Falls Stampede of the United States Hockey League on December 26th. Scott arrived in Durham in 1999, redshirted last season, and has not seen any action as a Wildcat. Scott is one of eight UNH players to be selected in the NHL early entry draft. He was drafted by the New York Islanders in 1999 with the 268th pick. Scott is expected to return to the Wildcat program next season.

BURLINGTON, Vermont — Matt Swain's overtime goal capped a furious comeback and gave sixth-ranked New Hampshire a 5-4 win over Vermont in collegiate men's ice hockey at a soldout Gutterson Fieldhouse on Saturday night.




DURHAM, N.H.--Junior forward Darren Haydar (Milton, Ont.) was the first recipient of the Hockey East Player Of The Week award for the 2000-2001 season. Haydar, who started at right wing for both games at the Ice Breaker, recorded 3-2-5 and had seven total shots at the tournament. Haydar, who was MVP of the championship game, had both game-tying goals in the two weekend contests. He is now ranked 50th on UNH's all-time career scoring list with 107 points (56-51-107) in 81 games played.




ANN ARBOR, MICH.- Junior forward Darren Haydar (Milton, ONT.) led the No. 6 University of New Hampshire hockey team to a 7-3 victory over No. 16 Colgate University to take home the Ice Breaker Cup on Saturday night at Yost Ice Arena. Haydar finished the game with three points on the night and five total (3-2-5) for the tournament. Haydar recorded goals at 10:22 and 19:09 of the second period.




ANN ARBOR, MICH.- In the earliest season opener in UNH Hockey history, Sophomore defenseman Garrett Stafford (Los Angeles, Calif.) scored on the seventh shot of a shootout to send the University of New Hampshire hockey team to the Ice Breaker final tommorow at 8:30 p.m. The game ended in a 2-2 tie after one five minute overtime period and the shootout determined who would advance to the Championship game to face either Michigan or Colgate.
