Conklin Blanks Miami-Ohio, 4-0

HANOVER, N.H. -- Ty Conklin made 21 saves in net as No. 5 University of New Hampshire blanked Miami of Ohio, 4-0, in Saturday's consolation game of the Ledyard National Bank Auld Lang Syne Classic hosted by Dartmouth College.

UNH (13-4-3) got what proved to be the gamewinner just 2:40 into the contest when Josh Prudden beat Miami goaltender David Burleigh for a 1-0 lead. The score went to 2-0 less than five minutes later when Lanny Gare netted his 10th goal of the season.

The Wildcats cushioned the lead to 3-0 at the midway point of the second on an Eric Lind goal, and Jeff Haydar rounded out the scoring with a shorthanded goal at the 7:41 mark of the third period.

Colin Hemingway had two assists for the Wildcats, while Lind also chipped in with an assist on Gare's goal.

For Miami (10-8-2), Burleigh made 20 saves before being relieved by David Bowen, who stopped five shots in the final 12 minutes.

The Wildcats return to action on Friday, January 5 and Saturday, January 6 when they host a weekend series against the University of Maine. Both games will be televised live on New Hampshire Public Television.
