95 UNH Student Athletes Named to America East Academic Fall Honor Roll

The University of New Hampshire athletic department had 95 student-athletes named to the America East Academic Fall Honor Roll, the conference announced Wednesday. Of those Wildcats, 42 received further distinction to the Commissioner’s Roll.

Student-athletes had to earn a grade point average of 3.0 or higher in the Fall 2010 semester to receive Honor Roll recognition while a 3.5 or higher GPA is required to make the Commissioner’s Roll.

UNH led America East in three sports with the most student-athletes named to the Honor Roll in men’s cross country (13), women’s cross country (20), and women’s volleyball (11).

New Hampshire ranked third in total percentage with 69.9 percent of all student-athletes making the America East Fall Honor Roll behind the University of Maine and the University Vermont. The UNH women’s volleyball team had 11 of its 12 members named to the list, while the women’s cross country team had 20 of its 23 members named to the honor roll.

The America East Fall Academic Honor Roll had a record 634 student-athletes earning honor roll status to mark the highest number of recipients since America East started awarding the honor during the 1988-89 season. Of the 634 students-athletes cited, 331 earned Commissioner’s Roll status. Two-thirds (66.4 percent) of the 2010 America East fall student-athletes earned Honor Roll status, which is the highest percentage of recipients since the fall of 2004.
