Lai Fires in 31, 'Cats Rally to Hand Bryant First Loss

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior guard Brittni Lai (Irvington, N.Y.) poured in a career-high 31 points to rally the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team to a 62-60 win over previously undefeated Bryant University on Tuesday evening in Lundholm Gymnasium.
Lai made five of her six attempts from behind the three-point line and six of her seven foul shots. She also had five rebounds., five assists and three steals in her 38 minutes.
Junior Kat Fogarty (Westminster, Mass.) added 13 points and led the Wildcats with nine rebounds.
UNH evened its record at 2-2. Bryant fell to 3-1. The Wildcats had lost to Bryant each of the last three seasons and won their first game in five tries against the Bulldogs.
UP NEXT
The Wildcats are back in Lundholm Gymnasium on Saturday, Nov. 26 to play Wagner at 7 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for 5 p.m. The time was moved back when an NCAA Division I FCS tournament first-round game between UNH and Lehigh University was set for Saturday at 2 p.m. in Wildcat Stadium.

She was on fire in the fourth quarter and led UNH's charge.
UNH trailed 51-44 with 7:46 to play in the fourth when Lai started to heat up. From there, she scored 17 of New Hampshire's points in a row on an assortment of three-pointers, drives and foul shots.
The final two points in her run were a pair of foul shots that put her team on top, 61-59, with 58 seconds left. It was UNH's first lead since 3-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Wildcats trailed by as many as a dozen points early in the second period. They went on a 10-0 run and it was a tight game much of the way from there.
UNH tied it for the first time, 39-39, on a basket from in close by sophomore forward Ashley Storey (Cumberland, Maine) with 1:36 left in the third period.
The Bulldogs went back in front 44-39 by the end of the period and then pushed the lead to 51-41 on a pair of three-pointers in the first 68 seconds of the fourth period.
Junior guard Peyton Booth (Wadsworth, Ohio) made a three-pointer, off a Lai assist, and the 'Cats were on their way.
