DURHAM, N.H. – The men's and women's cross country teams of the University of New Hampshire remained ranked in the USTFCCCA Northeast Region Poll after having a weekend off from competition. The men remained 14th in the poll while the women held the 10th spot.
The women had a strong showing in their last competition, taking the crown at the New England Championships held at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. Freshman Elinor Purrier (Montgomery, Vt.) led the Wildcats as she finished fourth overall with a time of 17:33. Sophomore Laura Rose Donegan (Melbourne, Australia) also finished in the top-10 as she came in sixth with a time of 17:36.
The men took 15th of 41 teams at the New England Championships, led by junior Sam Gagnon (Hooksett, N.H.) who ran to a 25th place finish with a time of 25:06. Sophomore Brendan McCarthy (Mansfield, Mass.) was second for the 'Cats as he crossed the line in 64th place with a time of 25:44.
The teams are back in action Friday, Oct. 25 as they will compete at the Central Connecticut State University Mini Meet, held at Stanley Park in New Britain, Conn. The meet starts at 3:30 p.m.
