DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's cross country team climbed five spots to No. 9 in this week's Northeast Region Poll that was released Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
UNH, which was ranked 14th in the previous poll and 10th in the preseason poll in early September, raced to a ninth-place finish its most recent competition – the 41-team Paul Short Invitational that was held at Lehigh University on Oct. 1. Seniors Sydney Fitzpatrick (Billerica, Mass.) and Erica Jesseman (Scarborough, Maine) finished 30th and 34th, respectively, to pace the 'Cats.
New Hampshire is ranked second highest of the four America East teams in this week's poll.
The Wildcats race again Oct. 9 (12 p.m.) at the New England Championships, which will be held at Franklin Park in Boston.
