WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY PLACES SECOND 40TH ANNUAL ALBANY INVITATIONAL

     ALBANY, N.Y. – The University of New Hampshire women’s cross country compiled 72 points en route to a second place finish at the 40th Annual Albany Invitational on Saturday as Wildcat harrier Cathy Parker (Westford, Mass.) registered a first place effort in an impressive time of 17 minutes, 14 seconds.
     With 22 participants in this year’s race, the University of Guelph captured the invitational with 63 points. Middlebury College was third (78) with Quinnipiac University placing fourth overall (97) and The College of New Jersey rounded out the top five (159). UNH was the first America East member to cross the finish line in team scoring.
     The Wildcats placed four runners in the top 25 as senior co-captain Emily Mareb (Great Barrington, Mass.) notched a sixth place effort (18:04) and Ting Chin followed with an 11th place finish (18:13). Sophomore Kimberly Povec (Holland-Patent, N.Y.) crossed the line with a 25th place finish (18:41). All seven scorers finished the 5000-meter course under 19 minutes. The women averaged a time of 18:10 on the 5000-meter course.
     UNH returns to action on Saturday (Oct. 28) with a chance to compete for the America East Championship. The race is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
