Kathleen Colpoys joined the University of New Hampshire volleyball coaching staff in the summer of 2013 after one season as an assistant coach at Stonehill College, where she helped the Skyhawks to a playoff berth in the Northeast-10 quarterfinals.
She will assist head coach Jill Hirschinger and associate head coach Stacy Barnett with the development of middle hitters and blocking. In addition, Colpoys will be responsible for all video including break down and tape exchange, team travel, statistics and home game management.
Prior to coaching at Stonehill, Colpoys was a four-year standout at Holy Cross, where she was the first student-athlete in program history to record over 700 kills and 200 blocks. She captained the squad in her senior year and finished her career ranked second in program history in hitting percentage (.236), fourth in blocks (214) and seventh in kills (755). Additionally, she is just one of four players in program history to record 200-plus kills in three consecutive seasons. After her senior season, Colpoys remained with Holy Cross as a volunteer assistant and helped with individual training, team practices, Crusaders’ spring tournaments and recruiting.
An active member in the community, Colpoys has volunteered her time with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and has served as Eucharistic minister with her local congregation. Furthermore, she represented Holy Cross as a SADER Representative and has participated in the spring break immersion by volunteering in the hurricane affected areas of New Orleans, La.
A native of Scituate, Mass., Colpoys graduated with a Bachelor
of Arts in Economics at Holy Cross in May 2012.
Hirschinger on Colpoys:
“Kathleen was a great addition to our program last year. She came to us with a year of college coaching under her belt which is a rarity for a Graduate Assistant. Kathleen works specifically with our middle blockers in the gym and is an integral part of our day-to-day operations. She does a lot of the behind the scenes work for us without much credit and I am thrilled to have her back another season.”
