STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Senior Jessica Compton (Woodridge, Ill.) recorded a team-high 16 kills, hit at a .444 clip and had a team-high three blocks, but it was not enough as the University of New Hampshire volleyball team saw its five-game winning streak snapped in a 3-1 loss at Stony Brook on Sunday afternoon. The game scores were 30-27, 30-25, 24-30 and 30-24. The Wildcats fall to 18-8 overall, 7-4 in America East play. Stony Brook improves to 21-7 overall, 9-1 in AE.

By virtue of Albany's win over UMBC, the Wildcats have secured a berth in the upcoming America East Tournament. UNH returns to the post season for the first time since the 2003 season.

In the first game, Stony Brook took advantage of 10 UNH errors en route to the win. In game two, the Seawolves hit at a remarkable .500 with 18 kills to edge the Wildcats, who hit at a .316 clip with 18 kills. In the third game, UNH captured the win hitting at a team-best .364 mark with 17 kills. The Wildcats were once again plagued with errors as they committed eight errors in a losing effort.

In addition to Compton, senior Emmy Blouin (St. Albert, Alberta) notched 14 kills, while Toni Barnas (Cary, Ill.) and Kirsten Bates (Calgary, Alberta) had 13 and 11, respectively. Sophomore Kate Uitti (Pinckney, Mich.) registered a match-high 48 assists.

The Wildcats conclude the regular season at home on Sunday, Nov, 11 when they play host to Albany at 1 p.m. The match is senior day when prior to the game the  program will honor its four-player senior class.
