Junior outside hitter Emmy Blouin (St. Albert, Alberta) notched a team-high and career-high 25 kills on 47 attempts to go along with a .426 hitting percentage and four service aces. Blouin's previous career-high for kills was 19, which was set on Sept. 2, 2005 vs. IUPUI.
Senior captain Sarah Rehn (Oceanside, Calif.) posted 14 kills in UNH's first win of the season, along with a .345 hitting percentage, four aces and 13 digs. Rehn was named to the Fairfield All-Tournament Team for her efforts over the weekend.
Freshman setter Kate Uitti (Pinckney, Mich.) finished the match with a career-high 49 assists as the starting setter for the 'Cats. Freshman defensive specialist Alyse Lahti (Pepper Pike, Ohio) tallied a career-high 17 digs in the win against Bucknell. With the split at Fairfield, the 'Cats are 1-2 to start the 2006 season.
In the early match against Fairfield, the 'Cats were defeated by host Fairfield, 3-0. The game scores were 30-26, 30-22, 30-28. Rehn led the Wildcats in kills for the second straight match with eight and added 12 digs in the loss to the Stags. Junior middle blocker Jessica Compton (Woodridge, Ill.) registered six kills and owned a team-high .273 hitting percentage.
Uitti quarterbacked the Wildcat offense with 25 assists and a team-high two service aces. Uitti also chipped in with 12 digs, four kills and a .444 hitting percentage.
Lahti registered 16 digs in the first start of her Wildcat career at libero. Junior outside hitter Jeanne Czipri (Aurora, Ill.) posted seven kills in the Fairfield, which was the second best kill total among Wildcats.
UNH returns to action at the Syracuse Tournament on Friday, Sept. 1st against San Diego State (5 p.m.) at Manley Field House. The Wildcats play their first regular-season match at home on Friday, Sept. 8th vs. Brown (7 p.m.) at Lundholm Gym in the opening match of their tournament. The 'Cats will also host UMass-Lowell in an exhibition match on Tuesday, Sept. 5 at Lundholm Gym (7 p.m.).
