DURHAM, N.H.-- University of New Hampshire athletic director Marty Scarano announced today that head women's volleyball coach Jill Hirschinger has signed a multi-year contract extension.

Hirschinger has posted a 118-78 record since arriving in Durham in 1996. In her six years at UNH, she led the Wildcats to their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament with an America East conference championship in 1998. Hirschinger is the all-time winningest coach in school history with 118 wins and her .602 winning percentage is second-best in the history of the UNH volleyball program.

In four of the last five years, she has registered 20 wins or more and has been named America East Coach of the Year in consecutive years (1997, 1998). Her collegiate coaching record stands at 527-320-10 in 23 seasons with her 500th career victory coming on October 15, 2000 in a 3-1 win over Drexel University.

Hirschinger enters her second year serving as the interim senior women's administrator for the UNH athletic department.
