WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The University of New Hampshire volleyball team made quick work of its opponent Saturday, sweeping the University of Hartford in straight games Saturday at The Sports Center, 3-0.
The match, one hour and 18 minutes long, featured a strong attack by the Wildcats, led by junior Lauren Knight's (Centerville, Mass.) 11 kills. Overall, the 'Cats held a .392 to .100 hitting percentage advantage over the Hawks, as the Wildcats committed just seven attack errors on 102 total attempts.
Sophomore Alyson Coler (Monte Sereno, Calif.) and freshman Bonnie Wilson (Moraga, Calif.) each had 10 kills for UNH, which moves to 11-7 overall, 4-2 America East. The loss drops the Hawks to 5-11 (1-5 AE)
Freshman Kerin Mackanin (Barlett, Ill.) had a big day at the setter position, posting career-highs in assists and digs with 33 and seven, respectively. Wilson had a team-high 13 digs for the 'Cats. New Hampshire outblocked Hartford 10.5 to three, led by sophomore Erin Ludwig's (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) six assisted blocks.
Kelly McEathron led the Hawks with 11 kills. The Wildcats return to action Sunday at Stony Brook University (1 p.m.).
