DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire volleyball team swept Drexel University in straight games Sunday, 3-0, as sophomore Alyson Coler (Monte Sereno, Calif.) picked up a game-high 14 kills.
The 'Cats won the first two games in easy fashion, 30-14, 30-15, but trailed by as much as 7-3 in the third game. UNH came back to tie it at eight-all, however, and later broke a 16-16 tie on a service ace from junior Brin Hanna (Los Alamitos, Calif.). Hanna's ace started a 4-0 UNH run, giving the Wildcats just enough cushion to finish the match, 30-25.
Freshmen Bonnie Wilson (Moraga, Calif.) and Heidi Specht (Kansas City, Mo.) each had 10 kills for the 'Cats, who improve to 10-7 (3-2 America East). The Dragons fall to 8-12 (1-4 AE).
Angela Tassone had a team-high 11 kills for Drexel and Gina Campanile and Michelle Flather each had seven digs.
Wilson and junior Sasha Scott (N. Branford, Conn.) finished with seven digs apiece and freshman Lyndsey Stults (Fort Wayne, Ind.) netted six blocks.
UNH returns to action on Oct. 20 at the University of Hartford (1 p.m.).
