Wildcat's Coler tabbed America East Player of the Week

DURHAM, N.H. - For the second time this season, sophomore Alyson Coler (Monte Sereno, Calif.), an outsider hitter on the University of New Hampshire volleyball team, took America East Player of the Week honors on Monday.

Coler had a sensational week for the 'Cats, posting 53 kills, 33 digs and five blocks in three matches. Her 28 kills versus Northeastern on Oct. 6 were two short of the school record set by Beth Cole in 1997. Coler also had nine digs and a remarkable .397 hitting percentage on 63 attack attempts during a tough five-game loss to the Huskies.

Coler's .312 hitting percentage was tops on the team last week. In UNH's 3-1 America East opening victory over the University of Maine on Oct. 3, Coler picked up 15 kills, 12 digs and four service aces. Against Albany on Oct. 7, Coler had 10 kills and 12 digs.

UNH returns to action at Boston College on Oct. 10.
