NEW ORLEANS – University of New Hampshire track standout Cathy Parker (Westford, Mass.) was recently named to the U.S. 2007 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division I All-Academic Team. It was announced on Wednesday.

A total of 415 student-athletes representing 117 Division I colleges and universities make up the All-Academic team. Parker was the only representative from the America East conference. She was also named to the All-Academic Team during the conclusion of the cross country season in November.

To qualify for the USTFCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, one must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 and obtain an NCAA automatic or provisional qualifying mark for the most recent indoor championships or an outdoor regional qualifying mark in their respective event.

Parker is currently enrolled in UNH’s prestigious nursing program and holds an impressive 3.85 cumulative grade-point average. She was featured as the America East Academic Spotlight for the month of March for her efforts in and outside of the classroom.

She placed 11th overall (10:08.16) in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the Division I NCAA Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, California. In the preliminary round, she smashed her own school record by running an amazing time of 10:06.45. Parker also won the America East championship in the steeplechase by over 43 seconds on May 5.
