HANOVER, N.H. – Senior thrower Erin Moore (Nashua, N.H.) placed in three events to lead the University of New Hampshire women’s outdoor track and field team to a fifth place finish at the New England Champions this Saturday on the campus of Dartmouth College.
The meet was won by Williams. Boston College followed in second with Dartmouth rounding out the top three. UNH scored 52 points, placing fifth overall out of 34 teams.
Moore garnered two fourth place finishes in the shot put (43-5.25) and hammer (163-11), respectively, and placed sixth overall in the discus (132-3) to lead all Wildcats in scoring. Junior Jennifer Hitchcock (LaSalle, Ontario) posted a fourth place effort in the javelin (124-2).
Sophomore sprinter Sarah Hall (Nottingham, N.H.) placed third overall and nearly broke her own school record in the 200-meter dash (24.96) that she set the previous week at the America East Championships. Hall broke the nine-year record by posting an impressive time of 24.93.
Junior Kiah Quarles (Derry, N.H.) raced to a time of 14.45 in the 100-meter hurdles as she notched a third place effort, while teammate Lauren Barbour tallied a sixth place showing in the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.39).
Senior Nicole Whalen (Warwick, N.Y.) delivered a sixth place finish in the 1500-meters (4:35.76) and the 4x800 relay team garnered a victory in a time of 9:06.68.
