HANOVER, N.H. - Senior Erin Moore (Nashua) of the University of New Hampshire women's outdoor track and field team recently led her team with three top three places as the Wildcats compiled 138 to place second at the Darthmouth College Invitational on Saturday.
Dartmouth College won the meet with 203 points, while UNH was second (138) and University of Vermont placed third (131). Middlebury College (81.5) and Smith College (30.5) rounded out the top five.
The all-conference multi-event performer Moore dominated the throwing events. She was second in both the shot put (42-6) and hammer (165-7) in addition to a third place effort in the discus (127-3). Junior Kiah Quarles (Derry, N.H.) came away from Hanover with a win in the 100-meter hurdles (14.57) and was fifth in the long jump (17-1.50). Also in the sprints, sophomore Sarah Hall (Nottingham, N.H.) raced to a victory in the 100-meters (12.41), and tallied a second in the 200-meters (25.25).
In the distance events, junior harrier Cathy Parker (Westford, Mass.) placed second overall in the 1500-meters (4:37.99), while teammate and senior Nicole Whalen (Warwick, N.Y.) was third (4:38.48). Senior Amanda Schweizer (Merrimack, N.H.) enjoyed a third place finish in the 800-meters (2:16.66). Junior Jennifer Hitchock (La Salle, Ontario), who was a UNH women's hockey standout, placed second in the javelin (120-5).
UNH returns to action on Tuesday (April 24) when they compete at Holy Cross. The meet is set to start at 12 noon.
