DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire women's track team and field competed with vigor as it hosted the final Wildcat Invitational meet of the 2006 season at the Reggie F. Atkins Track and Field Facility last Saturday, April 29.
Seniors Erin Moore (Nashua, N.H.) and Amanda Cmielewski (Englishtown, N.J.) dominated the throws in the field events. Moore took first place in the shot put with her best throw of 42 feet-7 inches and finished second in the discus throw with a mark of 124-8. Moore also took second in the hammer throw with an effort of 158-9 while Cmielewski grabbed third at 146-8. Cmielewski had the top mark in the javelin throw with a distance of 121-1.
Also successful in other field events was Chloe Harry (Tyler, Texas), who took third in the high jump at a height of 5-1.25 and second in the long jump at 16-11.25, while teammate Kiah Quarles (Derry, N.H.) finished third at 16-10.75.
The women took first place in both the 4x100 meter and 4x400m relays with respective times of 49.54 seconds and 4:10.16. Also grabbing a first-place finish was Chelsea Corr (East Greenbush, N.Y.), who finished the 1500m run in 4:43.80. Freshman Sarah Hall won the 400m dash with a time of 58.75 and took third in the 200m dash with a time of 26.48. In the 400m hurdles, Jennifer Norden (Eaton, N.H.) and Lauren Barbour (Tewskbury, Mass.) took first and second with times of 1:05.20 and 1:05.46, respectively. Quarles finished second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.24.
